From this Washington Post story, it’s evident that the world (or at least a few representatives in Turtle Bay) wants Obama.

What does the world need now? A decision! How can we get it?

Clearly, a dance off would help. Who’s got the moves? Who’s posse will regulate on November 4? How does McCain really feel about Sarah Palin? It’s all in this video.

Then, read Kathleen Parker’s Freudian analysis of why McCain chose Palin. Hint: that gosh darn Alaska charm didn’t hurt.

Text your vote

TheNewVote.com is a DIY poll via text messaging. It’s some wizardry concocted by my friend Vikram and associates. You text “voting Obama/McCain/independent” to 41411. It texted me back that 100% of people in New York City (my cell is a 347) have said they’re voting Obama (shocking surprise). On the site, there’s a map of the country all pimpled blue, but for a tiny dot in Oklahoma where somebody text-voted McCain(bomb those Arabs!). Now I’m supposed to take a photo of myself voting for Obama on November 4 to “prove it.” Wait, isn’t this illegal or something? Oh yeah, according to their FAQs, it sure is, at least in some places. And get this, I’m going to take a photo of my behind in the polling booth. Har har!

Although I live one block from my registered polling station, and am cancelling all plans until my vote is in on November 4, this video made me gasp (and then laugh, nervously)… Mr. Obama, it won’t be me!!

Summering in Fall

Baltimore, summering in fall

Baltimore, summering in fall

On the evening of the last debate in the 2008 election, Mother Nature has decided to cast a vote.

At least that’s how I am choosing to intepret the weird 80-degree weather Baltimore is experiencing in mid October.

She’s saying, Mr. Obama, Mr. McCain, don’t drill, baby, drill.

“It’s not just the economy. It’s the warming planet, stupid!”

Sarah Palin as Mayor

Miss Sarah of North Collington Street, another great Baltimore block, forwarded a video interview with two young Alaskan women. While this does not immediately pertain to Baltimore, it is of interest to many here as it pertains to a perky VP wanabee who could end up in an oval-shaped office 40 minutes south of Charm City.

The ladies in the video discuss Ms. Palin’s actions as Wasilla, Alaska’s mayor. In a nutshell, to quote Joni Mitchell, she paved paradise and put up a parking lot. Watch and weep.

Oh and ps — Sarah Palin’s faux Facebook page–too good not to share.

Could this tee save lives?

Could this tee save lives?

I’ve been wearing my Obama tee from MoveOn.org a lot recently, for a few reasons. It’s a stylishly retro nod to past campaign memorabilia and I support the guy. But in Baltimore, backing Barack cuts across racial, class and other divides. So when I wear the tee I get hollared at, in a good way.

Interaction with strangers is normally limited to the classic greeting, “you got a quarter for the bus?”

But these days, I’ve gotten thumbs up, fist bumps, and grinning salutes from trash collectors, yoga teachers, liquor store cashiers and oldster hipsters in Joe Squared. I’m thinking, if Baltimore invested a few thou in a truckload of Obama tees, in sizes XS through XL, they might put Murder Ink , the City Paper’s weekly register of killings, out of business. I’m seeing rival drug gangs dropping weapons, robberies averted, and muggings abandoned. Herein lies the power of the hope that we all genuinely BELIEVE in, here in Baltimore.
